Transit-TransKazakhstan, the main industry forum, will demonstrate the opportunities of the transport industry

Transit-TransKazakhstan, the Kazakhstan International Transport & Logistics Exhibition, will take place on 16-18 September 2009 in Almaty. The exhibition will be held in pavilion 10A of the Atakent Exhibition Centre. The event is organised by the Kazakhstani exhibition companies Atakent-Expo and Iteca, part of the ITE Group (UK), with the support and participation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Today, Transit-TransKazakhstan is the largest specialised exhibition for cargo transportation, transport and logistics in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Over 80 companies from 12 countries will take part in the exhibition. Transport companies from Latvia will present their products and services on a joint national stand.

Transit-TransKazakhstan 2009 covers the whole transport industry: railway, sea, road, and air transport; combined transport; courier services; ports and terminals; freight transportation equipment; and many other areas. Each year, the section of the exhibition demonstrating logistics services and automated stock control systems gets bigger. It is worth noting the annual participation of rolling stock and equipment manufacturers from Russia and Ukraine, which are amongst the regular exhibitors.

As in previous years, domestic companies are also participating in the show alongside the international exhibitors. The exhibition will present leading Kazakhstani enterprises, including Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Company, Kazaeronavigaciya RSE, Kaztransservice JSC, Kaztemirtrans JSC, Aktau International Commercial Port RSE, MEK Transistema Ltd, Astana-Kontract JSC and others.

Rail transport is one of the key areas of Kazakhstan’s transport system, providing 80% of freight turnover. In terms of the length of railway in use, Kazakhstan occupies third place after Russia and Ukraine. Structural and economic changes are currently taking place in this industry.

As part of a special event alongside the exhibition, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Company will hold a round table on the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s export potential. The event will be held on 17 September in the exhibition pavilion. The event is aimed at developing collaborative solutions to increase transportation by rail.

The event will be attended by representatives of major Kazakhstani businesses and forwarding companies, such as the Association of National Forwarding Agents, Agrensor Ltd, Kazakhmys Corporation, Grain Union of Kazakhstan, Petro Kazakhstan Company, Aktubinsk Ferro-alloys Plant, Semeycement JSE, Tengizshevroil, Metal Stil Temirtau JSE, Bogatyr Trans Ltd, Agip KCO and other companies. The list of issues to be discussed includes the development of export freightage through the ports of the Black and Baltic seas, and forecasts for consignors for the future.

The improvement and development of Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure is closely related to the key routes of international transportation. Kazakhstan enjoys a unique geographic position between Europe and Asia. Work continues in the country to further improve and develop the infrastructure of all cargo and passenger transportation. The successes in this area are evidenced by the quality and number of international exhibitions and conferences held in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In his welcome to the participants of Transit-TransKazakhstan 2009, Abelgazy Kussainov, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, expresss confidence that the exhibition will contribute to the effective use of Kazakhstan’s transport and transit potential, and will assist cooperation between local and international transport companies.
