World Mining Congress 2018: a driver for developing mining industry in Kazakhstan

There is less than two weeks left before the start of the key world event in the mining and metallurgical industry - the 25th World Mining Congress, which will be held in Astana.

wmcSuch a large-scale event of world significance will be held for the first time not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the territory of the CIS. This underlines the authority of Kazakhstan in the global mining and metallurgical industry.

The Organizing Committee of the WMC-2018 together with AGMP prepared a brief overview of the industry and trends of the MMI.

Kazakhstan has a rich mineral resource base: there are 99 elements of the periodic table, 85 large and 79 medium-sized MMI enterprises in the country.

According to experts’ forecasts, in the coming years the mining industry of Kazakhstan expects a steady growth, supported by a rise in prices for base metals, as well as legislative transformations implemented in 2017.

The Code “On Subsoil and Subsoil Use”, adopted in late 2017, corresponds to the best world practice: the document provides for the introduction of an international system of accounting standards, simplifies the procedures for obtaining subsoil use rights, and introduces the world’s best practices in administration.

The long-term growth of the sector will be supported by the rise in demand for metals and growing internal demand.

InterFood Astana creates a platform for communication of all participants of the food industry

Traditionally, the 20th Kazakhstan International Exhibition for Food Industry InterFood Astana 2018 will be held in Astana at the international exhibition center “Korme” on May 29-31, 2018. The event is organized by Iteca together with its international partner ITE Group Plc (UK).

interfoodMore than 80 companies from eleven countries of the world, such as Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, confirmed their participation in this year’s exhibition InterFood Astana.

More than 27% of exhibitors are Kazakhstan companies representing almost all regions of the republic, 20% - representatives of the entities of the Russian Federation, 12% - of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, further – the companies from Belarus, Uzbekistan and Korea.

For the first time, the Agency for Restructuring of Agricultural Enterprises of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Promotion and Protection of Investments of the Kyrgyz Republic participate in the exhibition InterFood Astana.

The exposition will display confectionery and bakery equipment, refrigeration and trade equipment, equipment for processing of fruit and vegetables. In addition, confectionery, fat-and-oil and macaroni products, sausages and meat products, preserves, juices, jams will be presented.

Also in the exposition there are companies supplying spices, ingredients, snacks and dried fruit.

In the “Packaging” section modern packaging technologies, equipment and materials for both large and small industries, as well as filling and packaging lines for trade and public catering enterprises will be presented.

The 25th Jubilee World Mining Congress 2018 will be held in Kazakhstan

On June 19th-21st, 2018, the city of Astana will be hosting the 25th Jubilee World Mining Congress. Kazakhstan will be the first country among the CIS states to hold an event of such significant international importance.

wmcThe World Mining Congress is the largest and most appreciable gathering of the mining and metallurgical industry (WMC). It was first held in Warsaw (Poland) in 1958, and since then it has been taking place every 2-3 years. The WMC brings together specialists and scientists of many countries who work in the development of the solid minerals deposits. In the entire history of the Congress, the number of the participating countries has increased from 10 to 49 and continues to grow.

The Congress of 2018 will be marked with three anniversary dates: 60 years since the foundation of the WMC, the 25th Jubilee WMC session and the 20th birthday of the capital city of Astana.

Kazakhstan has been chosen to be the platform to hold the 25th Anniversary Congress not coincidentally – the resources of our country constitute a rich mineral and raw material base - represented by 99 elements of the periodic table, 70 of which have already been explored, and over 60 are actively produced. Kazakhstan is in the top ten world miners of aluminum ores; it is endowed with the CIS third-largest iron ore reserves, and is outdone only by Australia in the uranium production. Our country is consistently ranked in the list of the countries rich with the copper ores. Annually Kazakhstan produces over 100 million tons of coal. Products of the national MMI enterprises are exported to Japan, South Korea, USA, Canada, Russia, China and EU states.

25th ANNIVERSARY WORLD MINING CONGRESS – a unique chance for the country to show its potential in the mining and metallurgical industry in the international arena

Two major international events will be held in Kazakhstan in two months of 2018. One of them is the Astana Economic Forum (May 17-18), at which a record number of guests and speakers - experts in the sphere of economy and politics, as well as co-founders of major international organizations was reported. The second event - no less large-scale in its sphere – the 25th Anniversary World Mining Congress (June 19 - 22). Such an event of world significance is held for the first time not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the territory of the CIS countries as a whole.

It was first held in 1958 in Warsaw (Poland) and ever since it has been held once every 2-3 years. Kazakhstan was not chosen as a venue for holding the Anniversary Congress by accident - the resources of our country are a rich mineral and raw material base: 99 elements of the periodic table are found in Kazakhstan, 70 of which have been discovered, and more than 60 are already used in production. Kazakhstan is one of the top ten aluminum miners in the world, it ranks third in iron ore reserves among the CIS countries, in uranium mining is second only to Australia, it is firmly in the list of countries rich in copper ores. Annually in the country it is extracted over 100 million tons of coal. The products of MMC enterprises are exported to Japan, South Korea, the USA, Canada, Russia, China and the EU countries.

Golden Hephaestus is pushing back the boundaries

June 2018 is marked by a number of events with a global significance for the mining and metallurgical industry due the 25th Jubilee World Mining Congress (WMC) which will take place in the city of Astana from June 19th through June 22nd.

gh logoOn top of the intensive business program of the Congress and other co-occurring associated thematic events, it is scheduled to announce the winners of the major professional contest among the employees and companies of the mining and metallurgical sector – the Golden Hephaestus, and the formal awarding ceremony of 2018 will be held for the 9th time.

This year, the organizing committee of the contest has made a decision to extend the row of the nominations up to 13 categories. Such change has been caused by the fact that annually over 150 nominees take part in the competition, and 2017 had an unprecedented count of 190 entries.

As a result of the extended list of the nominations, the contest is rising to a new level of the maturity. Thus, one of the most recent categories – “The Best Foreign Partner” – is helping the organizers to expand the geography of the potential participants by bringing in abroad companies and organizations.

Kazakhstan is standing on the verge of the new era of the adoption of emerging technologies, innovations and digitization in the mining and metallurgical sector, and it is beyond any doubt that the Golden Hephaestus Award does not stay on the sidelines. For this very reason, the previous nomination “The Best Energy-Saving Solution” has been replaced with “The Best Digital Solution in the Mining and Metallurgical Sector” established by Eurasian Resources Group (ERG).

Regional North-Caspian exhibition Global Oil & Gas Atyrau-2018 leading in West Kazakhstan and construction and interior exhibition AtyrauBuild 2018 were held for 17 times in Atyrau - key industrial center of Kazakhstan

Global Oil & Gas Atyrau is the largest business platform of North Caspian region and a great opportunity for business dialogue of participants from different countries. This year combined exposition of two major events presented 110 companies from 5 countries of the world - Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey and Belarus.

At the official opening of the exhibition, Akim of Atyrau region Nurlan NOGAYEV, Deputy Energy Minister Bolat AKCHULAKOV and Director of LLP Iteca Yuri BORODIKHIN made a welcoming speech.

Traditionally, oil and gas companies took part in Global Oil & Gas Atyrau 2018 exhibition, companies dealing with oil transportation, production and supply of oil and gas equipment, oilfield services companies placed their expositions.

Participants of AtyrauBuild 2018 exhibition presented innovations in construction, interior, road construction, heating and ventilation. Exhibitors were given a unique opportunity to present their exclusive developments and solutions. Visitors of the exhibition got acquainted with such products as prefabricated structures, paint and varnish products, instrumentation, safety systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems, welding equipment, automotive and special equipment.

The area of exhibition hall is 2,5 thousand square meters. The exhibition had been held for three days - from 10 to 12 April. In total, during the work of exhibitions Global Oil & Gas Atyrau 2018 and AtyrauBuild 2018, the event was attended by 1963 people.
